Club Brugge beat Sint-Truiden and temporarily extend their lead
Club Brugge won their match against Sint-Truiden on Saturday during Matchday 7 of the Champions Playoffs. The Bruges side secured a 2-0 home victory. With this win, Club Brugge temporarily increase their lead in the standings.
This success allows the Bruges team to put pressure on Union Saint-Gilloise. Union’s match against Mechelen was still due to be played on Sunday. Before that encounter, Club Brugge are therefore enjoying a bigger gap at the top or in the race for the upper places in the standings.
The match against Sint-Truiden allowed Club Brugge to make a strong start to this playoffs round. By winning without conceding a goal, the team confirm their good form during an important period of the season.
For Sint-Truiden, this defeat is a poor result in a difficult away match. For their part, Club Brugge can be satisfied to have taken the three points at the right time.
The standings can still change after the other matches of the weekend. But for the moment, Club Brugge have done the job and temporarily widened the gap over their main rival.
