Tensions in Lebanon: Israeli Army Conducts Operation Against Hezbollah Drones
The Israeli army has announced the completion of a major military operation in southern Lebanon. This mission, which lasted several days, focused on the Litani River region. The primary objective was to reduce the military capabilities of Hezbollah, a Lebanese armed group, and to protect northern Israel.
Northern Israel has been living under a constant threat for several months. Hezbollah regularly uses drones to attack Israeli territory. These devices are small and difficult for radars to detect, causing significant concern among the civilian population. The army is therefore seeking to destroy launch sites and the infrastructure used for these attacks.
According to official statements on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Israeli troops conducted intensive searches near the Litani River. This area is strategic as it is located only a few kilometers from the border. Soldiers targeted weapons caches and command centers belonging to the Lebanese group to limit its movements.
The situation remains very unstable in this part of the Middle East. Despite these military operations, exchanges of fire continue on both sides of the border. The international community is closely watching the evolution of the conflict, fearing a major escalation between the two countries in the coming weeks.
