Lommel and Beerschot qualify for the promotion play-off final
Lommel and Beerschot will play in the promotion play-off final in the Challenger Pro League. The two teams secured their place on Monday evening after the second-leg semi-finals. RFC Liège and Patro Eisden are therefore eliminated on the doorstep of the final stage.
In Lommel, RFC Liège needed to pull off a feat to continue their run. But the task quickly became too difficult. Already beaten in the first leg, the Liège side lost again 1-2. Lommel thus confirmed their superiority over the two matches and logically qualified for the final.
In the other semi-final, Beerschot had to wait until extra time to make the difference against Patro Eisden. After Raymond Asante’s equaliser at the start of the second half, the suspense remained complete. In the end, former Red Devil Radja Nainggolan scored an important second goal to help his team qualify.
This evening therefore delivered its verdict in the Challenger Pro League. Lommel and Beerschot will now face each other in the promotion play-off final. Both clubs will try to finish their season in the best possible way and secure promotion.
