Secret farms uncovered: More than 2000 cannabis plants seized in Vienna
Vienna police uncovered a major marijuana operation in Floridsdorf, seizing thousands of cannabis plants and placing three suspects in custody after weeks of surveillance.
Investigators from the Vienna State Criminal Police Office focused on a property in the Vienna-Floridsdorf area after noticing suspicious activity. Officers detained a 64-year-old man who was carrying tools and equipment typically used for growing cannabis, which deepened the investigation.
With authorization from the Public Prosecutor's Office in Vienna, the police raided a property in Stammersdorf. Inside, they found two men aged 34, along with several professionally equipped grow rooms with ventilation systems, lights, and exhaust pipes. Cash amounts in the thousands of euros were also confiscated.
Another address linked to the 64-year-old man revealed an additional cultivation site. In total, authorities seized 2,190 cannabis plants, 15,761.4 grams of cannabis herb, and 69.4 grams of cannabis resin.
The three men were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and were transferred to a correctional facility by order of the public prosecutor. According to the police, the suspects refused to make any statements during the interrogation.
