The job center cancels multilingual brochures for social assistance
The Federal Employment Agency (BA) announced that it will stop providing multilingual information brochures about citizen benefits in Germany. From now on, the 'Brief Information on Citizen Benefits' will only be available in German, including a simplified version in easy-to-understand language, according to a spokesperson for the agency.
So far, these documents have been available in the following languages: Arabic, Bulgarian, English, French, Persian, Romanian, Russian, Ukrainian, and Turkish. The agency also confirmed that detailed instructions on how to fill out the citizen assistance application forms in Ukrainian, Russian, and English will be gradually phased out starting in 2026.
Although this step significantly reduces multilingual resources, the agency emphasized that all multilingual services will not disappear. It clarified that it remains committed to informing current and potential beneficiaries of their rights and obligations.
The agency indicated that it plans to focus more on providing early guidance for those who may need assistance soon. As part of this, the English-language webpage with information about citizen assistance will remain available.
This step comes amid ongoing discussions in Germany about the issue of language integration and access to public services, especially for newcomers and non-German speakers who rely on government assistance.
