An elementary school in Rotterdam shakes with three explosions within one week
An elementary school in the Rotterdam-Hoogvliet area was subjected to three explosions and arson attempts within a week, raising concerns in the local community and prompting emergency services to open an investigation. The attacks targeted Zalmplaatschool located on Aalreep street.
The last explosion occurred before midnight on Sunday inside classroom group 3C. The school administration clarified in a message to parents that the front facade of the building was damaged, but classes will continue as normal.
Firefighters inspected the building and confirmed that although a smell of smoke could be noticed, it does not pose a danger to the students. The school described what happened as unfortunate, assuring that the disturbance would be limited.
The administration informed the Rijnmond newspaper that the building has so far been subjected to 'three arson/explosion attempts,' noting that two previous incidents also occurred late at night last week at the same location.
Neither the police nor the school were able to identify any suspects, and the administration stated that it has 'no concrete suspicion' regarding the party responsible for the attacks.
