One of the most dangerous drug traffickers in Europe wants to marry the daughter of the President of Sierra Leone.
Dutch judicial authorities are seeking to confiscate a huge amount estimated at around 221 million euros from one of the most dangerous drug traffickers wanted in Europe, named Jos Luyckx, who is still at large. The Ministry of Justice announced that the public prosecutor submitted this request to a court in the city of Rotterdam, where it is believed that this money was collected illegally.
Last year, Leidkeris was convicted in the Netherlands of smuggling about seven tons of cocaine and ordering a murder, and was sentenced to 24 years in prison. He was also sentenced by a Belgian court in September to ten years in prison for drug trafficking and physical assault, and received an additional 13-year sentence in another drug case in February.
The prosecution based its determination of the amount to be confiscated on Leidker's enormous spending on drugs and his lavish lifestyle. Estimates indicate that he spent 114 million euros on purchasing 14 tons of cocaine in just one year. It is also believed that he bought gold worth 47 million euros within six months, in addition to owning a hotel in Turkey and apartments in Dubai, along with luxury cars, watches, and expensive jewelry.
At the end of January, Dutch investigators managed to track him down in Sierra Leone. According to Dutch and Belgian media, Leidkerke plans to marry the daughter of the president of this West African country. Dutch public television NOS showed images and videos believed to show him next to the president and his daughter.
Dutch authorities announced a financial reward of 200,000 euros for anyone who provides information leading to his arrest.
