Children and infants among trafficking victims in Favoriten
A painful blow to human trafficking networks in the Favoriten area of Vienna. Police carried out a raid on Thursday morning near Waldmüllerpark, resulting in the arrest of a man suspected of being a human trafficker. Nine other individuals who were illegally trafficked into the country were also arrested, including seven children.
The operation took place at ten o'clock in the morning, where the suspect was apprehended in front of a residential building on Herzgasse, while the individuals who were smuggled were detained near the park.
The authorities have not yet announced the source of the arrivals or their final destination. Investigations are still ongoing to determine if there are other individuals involved in this operation.
According to a security source, the suspected smuggler has been arrested and the vehicle used in the operation has been confiscated. Two adults and seven children have also been temporarily detained. The children's ages range from newborns to teenagers.
