Iraqi tried to abduct his ex-wife and children from a parking lot in Vienna

A terrifying incident occurred in Vienna when police discovered that what appeared to be a minor traffic accident was actually an attempted kidnapping of a man's ex-wife and his children. The incident took place on Sunday evening in the parking garage of Lugner City.

The police were called around 7:30 PM after a report of a minor collision between two cars. One of the drivers, a 39-year-old Iraqi man, was acting suspiciously and refused to cooperate, and he was unable to provide a driver's license. The officers quickly noticed that there were other people inside his VW Touareg.

When the back door was opened, a 34-year-old woman and two children emerged, all in a state of extreme fear. Moments later, the man's six-year-old daughter activated the international SOS signal, a silent distress call that compels the police to intervene immediately. At that point, the mother screamed for help in a state of panic.

The woman told the police that she had previously obtained a protection order against her ex-husband. She confirmed that he blocked her path in the street, threatened her with a knife, and then forced her and her two children into the car. During the search, the police found four knives, one of which was inside the Kinderwagen (stroller).

By order of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Vienna, the Iraqi man has been transferred to judicial custody, while investigations continue to uncover the sequence of events and whether additional charges will be brought against him.
