Information about a violent crime led the police to discover a cannabis farm.
A police check following a tip about a possible violent crime led to the discovery of a cannabis cultivation operation inside an apartment in Strobl, Salzburg.
Late on Friday evening, March 13, officers visited the apartment after receiving information suggesting a violent incident might have occurred there. However, when police arrived and inspected the residence, they instead discovered two cannabis-growing tents set up inside the apartment.
Following the discovery, investigators obtained a search warrant from the Staatsanwaltschaft Salzburg (Salzburg Public Prosecutor’s Office). During the search, officers seized around 20 cannabis plants along with multiple cultivation tools and cannabis herb found inside the property.
Police also discovered a throwing knife inside the apartment. According to authorities, the weapon belonged to the 31-year-old resident. This raised further concern because the man is currently under a Waffenverbot (weapons ban), which legally prohibits him from possessing weapons.
During the police operation, the suspect reportedly behaved very aggressively toward officers. As a result, he had to be temporarily detained. The Landespolizeidirektion Salzburg (Salzburg State Police Directorate) confirmed that the man now faces several criminal charges related to the discoveries.
