The government continues to deport and expel an Afghan convicted of serious crimes.

Austria carried out a new deportation operation early on Sunday morning as part of its strict immigration policy. The Interior Ministry confirmed that an Afghan citizen convicted of multiple crimes was deported from the country and transferred to Kabul.

According to the newspaper Heute, a 33-year-old Afghan man was deported after being convicted of committing six crimes in Austria, including several serious violent offenses. Authorities also confirmed that he has nine criminal records registered with the relevant authorities.

The man entered Austrian territory in July 2015 and spent about half of his residence period of ten and a half years in prisons or detention centers. After completing his last prison sentence, he was transferred directly to administrative detention until his deportation order was executed.

Official sources reported that the deportation process took place via Istanbul before reaching Kabul, where he was handed over in the Afghan capital to representatives of the Austrian authorities. The Ministry of Interior clarified that the man was identified last year by an Afghan administrative delegation that visited Vienna, and after intensive technical and operational efforts, the Afghan administration issued his return document.

The Austrian government recently announced the deportation figures for 2025, with more than 14,000 criminals or illegal residents leaving Austrian territory, the highest number recorded since the establishment of the Second Republic. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner confirmed that deportations to countries like Syria and Afghanistan are no longer individual cases but are being carried out gradually and on a larger scale as part of the government's 'strict, firm, and fair' policy.
