Scholz and Merkel were on the death list - Suspect arrested for terrorism
The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office in Germany has arrested a man in Dortmund suspected of belonging to the far-right movement known as "Reichsbürger". Authorities accuse him of using the dark web to call for attacks against politicians, government officials, and public figures. According to reports, special forces from the GSG 9 unit arrested the suspect, who is believed to have been running an illegal online platform known as "Assassination Politics."
Investigations revealed that the suspect, named Martin S., is 49 years old and kept a "hit list" containing more than 20 names, including former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, former Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and several former ministers. Information indicates that his activities were not limited to threats but also included publishing instructions for carrying out acts of violence and methods for manufacturing explosives.
According to the federal public prosecutor's office, Martin S. faces charges of financing terrorism, inciting serious violent acts that threaten the state, and dangerously leaking personal data. It was revealed that he had been under surveillance since 2020 after attracting the authorities' attention due to his participation in Corona protests and his extremist activities online.
Martin S. is believed to have solicited donations in cryptocurrency to fund assassination operations targeting politicians. The platform he runs online encourages support for political murder anonymously, inspired by an article written by anti-government activist Jim Bell in the 1990s titled "Assassination Politics," in which he proposed a system that allows for the anonymous funding of assassinations of "corrupt officials" online.
Authorities confirmed that information regarding Martin S.'s activities reached security agencies through the German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz). His arrest was considered a major success in preventing potential terrorist attacks and dismantling a dangerous network that was attempting to turn the dark web into an open market for crime and assassinations.
