Austria is on alert after the Israeli-American strikes on Iran
Austria has raised its alert level after a dramatic escalation in the Middle East. Authorities warn that the conflict now also affects Europe, prompting increased security measures across the country.
On Saturday, Israel and the United States launched major airstrikes on targets in Iran. Israeli officials believe Iran’s Supreme Leader may have been killed, while Tehran has denied the claim.
In response, a crisis team was convened at the Foreign Ministry in Vienna. Foreign Minister بيتا ماينل-رايزينغر said her top priority was the safety of the Austrian population and confirmed close coordination with Austrian embassies in the region. An emergency hotline was also set up for people with relatives in the Middle East.
Chancellor كريستيان شتوكر later addressed the situation, expressing deep concern and stressing that protecting civilians must come first. He urged all sides to return to diplomacy and work toward de-escalation. At the European level, leaders such as أورسولا فون دير لاين underlined the importance of nuclear non-proliferation and stronger protection for EU citizens.
According to the Interior Ministry, security has been reinforced at Iranian, Israeli, and American facilities in Austria. The situation is being closely monitored together with domestic and foreign intelligence services. Officials say Austria, like many European states, currently faces an increased threat level, but there is no concrete danger at this time.
