Are children from Syria and Ukraine behind the violent attack on an Austrian child?
A shocking incident of violence occurred in Lindau on the German-Austrian border, where a 13-year-old boy from Vorarlberg was attacked by four children who also reside in the same state. A verbal dispute arose with a 13-year-old Ukrainian boy and escalated into a group assault.
The attackers used emergency hammers that they stole from a local bus and hit the boy several times, then continued to kick him after he fell to the ground. The police confirmed that the victim did not suffer serious injuries despite the severity of the attack.
The German police were able to quickly identify the perpetrators who were hiding behind the building of the criminal police in Lindau. The youngest was 11 years old and the oldest was 13, including two children from Syria and two from Ukraine, all residing in Vorarlberg, like the Austrian victim.
The children were handed over to the appropriate guardians: the 11-year-old Ukrainian child returned to his father and legal guardian, while the older Ukrainian child was referred to family crisis services in Bregenz. The victim was transferred to Landeskrankenhaus Bregenz for medical examinations.
Investigations continue due to the seriousness of the incident and the involvement of minors in violent behavior that threatens community safety. Authorities are facing demands to tighten preventive measures around transportation stations.
