New knife fight at **Yppenplatz**: Two people injured
A violent brawl broke out in the weapon-free area of Yppenplatz in Ottakring, an area where carrying weapons has been banned since the beginning of August. The fight, which involved at least eight people, escalated when one participant pulled out a knife and stabbed his opponent.
The police rushed to the scene of the incident and managed to arrest six people aged between 20 and 25, identified as Syrians and stateless. Two of them sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital after receiving first aid from the Vienna ambulance service.
The knife used in the attack has not been found, and the attacker managed to escape before the police arrived. Authorities continue to search for him.
The detainees are now facing charges of attempting to cause serious intentional harm and participating in a brawl.
This incident marks a new escalation of violence in Yppenplatz, raising concerns about the level of security despite the introduction of stricter measures earlier this month. Further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
