Due to missile attacks: Austrian Airlines cancels flights to Dubai, Tel Aviv, Amman, and Erbil

Military escalation in the Middle East has disrupted air travel, forcing Austrian Airlines to suspend several regional routes due to ongoing missile attacks and heightened security risks.

Austrian Airlines announced the cancellation of flights to and from Tel Aviv (تل أبيب – Tel Aviv), Amman (عمّان – Amman), and Erbil (أربيل – Erbil) until March 7. Flights to Tehran (طهران – Tehran) will remain suspended until the end of March, while the Vienna (فيينا – Vienna) to Dubai (دبي – Dubai) route is paused until March 1.

The airline also confirmed it will avoid flying over the airspace of Israel (إسرائيل – Israel), Lebanon (لبنان – Lebanon), Jordan (الأردن – Jordan), Iraq (العراق – Iraq), Iran (إيران – Iran), Kuwait (الكويت – Kuwait), and Bahrain (البحرين – Bahrain) until at least March 7, citing safety concerns amid ongoing tensions.

Passengers affected by these cancellations have been offered flexible options, including free rebooking for later travel dates or full ticket refunds, according to the airline’s official statement.

Other carriers have taken similar steps. Lufthansa has suspended flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi (أبوظبي – Abu Dhabi) over the weekend and canceled routes to several Middle Eastern destinations, while also avoiding the region’s airspace. Meanwhile, Wizz Air has halted flights to and from Israel, Abu Dhabi, and Amman until March 7.

These measures highlight the immediate impact of regional instability on global aviation, as airlines prioritize passenger safety amid growing uncertainty and continued security concerns.
