Cyberattack on hospitals in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district
The LUP clinics in northeastern Germany are currently struggling with major technical problems. The reason for this is a targeted cyberattack on the hospitals' IT systems. Several locations in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district are affected, as the district administration officially announced.
Affected locations include the clinics in Parchim and Hagenow. To ensure data security and prevent the attack from spreading further, many computer systems were immediately shut down. This means that employees currently cannot access digital patient records or internal networks as usual.
Despite the technical restrictions, operations at the hospitals continue. Medical care for patients is the top priority. Emergencies are still being treated, but there may be delays in some areas. The clinics are working closely with IT experts and the relevant authorities to analyze the situation precisely.
So far, it remains unclear who is behind the attack and whether sensitive data was stolen. Specialists are now investigating the security gaps in order to bring the systems back online safely as quickly as possible. This incident shows once again how vulnerable critical infrastructure such as hospitals can be to cybercrime.
