Video: Thugs attack Croatian basketball fans on the A2 highway!
On Friday evening, the A2 highway witnessed shocking scenes when around 60 people were spotted lurking around Croatian basketball fans in unexpected incidents - armed with baseball bats. A match was held in Vienna as part of the ABA league, where many fans of the Croatian team Zadar headed to the capital. However, several cars with double plates also set off, believed to be aimed at clashing with the Croats.
On the A2 highway near Traiskirchen, around 60 people were reportedly planning to attack the Croats, using baseball bats and steel rods. A shocking video captured the painful moments from a bystander. During terrifying scenes, the hooligans quietly searched for cars that might belong to Croatian basketball fans, and fortunately, no violence occurred. Police later confirmed that there were five injured. Initially, there were reports of 15 to 20 vehicles of hooligans on the roadside, leading to alerts about a major incident, but it later turned out to be a mistake.
After the incident, the troublemakers fled down a side street, throwing away baseball bats and sticks, while the police confiscated the tools used.
The police also received reports of burning cars, but it turned out they were fireworks near the vehicles. While responding, an emergency vehicle collided with another trying to exit, resulting in five injuries.
Officials have not yet confirmed the reason for about 60 troublemakers seeking to confront Croatian fans, but it is believed that the incident is related to a violent event in the Bosnian city of Tuzla on January 24, where Croatian fans were attacked by Serbian fans, resulting in 20 injuries and 93 arrests.
