More than 150,000 job vacancies in Austria!
April in Austria saw an increase in the number of job vacancies, with 156,724 unfilled positions announced, representing an 8% rise compared to March, according to data from Stellenmonitor published by the Austrian Economic Association (Wirtschaftsbund).
The sectors that recorded the most job opportunities were "management, marketing, finance, law, security", with 27,802 jobs, followed by the sectors of "trade, logistics, and transportation" with 26,730 vacant positions. The largest increase in jobs appeared in the field of "protection, security, and surveillance", where the number of jobs jumped by 34.77% to reach 1,097 jobs.
In contrast, job opportunities remained scarce in fields such as "mining, raw materials, glass, ceramics, and stone," with only 128 jobs recorded, while the "textiles, fashion, clothing, and leather" sector was close behind with only 228 jobs.
The Secretary General of the Austrian Economic Association, Kurt Eiger, stated: "The national economic output has seen slight growth at the beginning of the year, and in April we have more than 10,000 additional jobs compared to last month. We cannot yet talk about a significant improvement, but there are initial positive signals from the economy. We must seize this opportunity and provide clear solutions that alleviate the burden on companies and employees, such as reducing bureaucracy and appreciating good work."
Iger added: "In sectors like restaurants, hotels, and many services, tipping is an important sign of appreciation. Given the shortage of staff, we need to improve working conditions. Exempting tips from taxes and fees is an effective step and a simple bureaucracy, as it should go entirely to the worker, not to the tax authority."
