A huge stockpile of fireworks found under a police station in Amsterdam
The police in Amsterdam found hundreds of kilograms of illegal fireworks along with several weapons inside a storage unit located directly beneath the Overtoomsesluis police station on Hoofdweg street in the Amsterdam-West area. Authorities described this discovery as a 'life-threatening mix that should not be approached by anyone.'
The officers began the investigation after receiving an anonymous tip indicating the presence of suspicious materials in the storage unit, making the discovery more serious due to its proximity to an active police station.
The report also mentioned a residential building on the same street. When searching one of the apartments there, officers found explosives and illegal weapons, which increased concerns about the scale of illegal activity.
The police secured the sites immediately and safely removed all explosives and weapons. They confirmed that the surrounding area is no longer in danger.
Despite the seriousness of what was found, the authorities said that no arrests have been reported so far, and the investigation is still ongoing.
