Syrian child in intensive care after a mass attack by Syrians and Palestinians in Floridsdorf

A 14-year-old Syrian boy is in intensive care after being stabbed during a violent brawl in Floridsdorf, Vienna. The attack involved a group of seven young men and escalated from a previous confrontation between Syrian and stateless Palestinian citizens.

Police reports indicated that the boy was stabbed in the back and buttocks. He was initially in critical condition but is currently stable. A 21-year-old Palestinian man was also stabbed in the chest, causing severe bleeding, but his injuries were not life-threatening.

Authorities seized a kitchen knife near Wasserpark and a firearm in the Ferdinand-Kaufmann-Platz area near Angelibad. Investigations have extensively spread from Wasserpark to Alte Donau and the Neue Donau subway station on the U6 line.

Witnesses provided the license plate number, which led the police to stop a green Peugeot car carrying three suspects. Four other suspects who fled on foot were also arrested, bringing the total number of detainees to seven. All of them are Syrians aged between 19 and 26, except for one person whose nationality has not yet been confirmed.

The investigation is led by the Landeskriminalamt (State Criminal Police Office). The public prosecutor will decide on the next steps after the interrogations are completed. The police continue to work to determine the cause of the confrontation and the background of the violent incident.
