Warning of Errors: Software Displays Incorrect Medication Dosages
The National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV) has issued an important warning for medical practices in Germany. There are technical problems with the software that many doctors use for their daily work. These errors can lead to medication information being stored incorrectly in the system.
The problem occurs when the so-called nationwide medication plan is imported into a practice's computer system. This plan is designed to clearly list all of a patient's medications. However, due to a technical error in the software, dosage information is sometimes transferred incorrectly.
This situation is dangerous for patients. If the dosage is incorrect, people may take the wrong amount of their medicine. This can lead to health problems. The KBV therefore advises doctors to check all data carefully after importing it and not to rely blindly on the technology.
The KBV is already working to resolve the issue together with the software manufacturers. Until a technical update is available, practices must be particularly careful. Patients should also check directly with their doctor if they are unsure whether the information on their plan is correct.
