No night trains will run around Amsterdam Central Station this weekend.
There will be no night trains around Amsterdam Centraal this Saturday and Sunday, and several daytime services will run only partially due to maintenance work, according to NS.
Night services to Alkmaar, Amersfoort, Breukelen, Haarlem, Schiphol Airport/Hoofddorp, Uitgeest, Utrecht, and Weesp will be suspended. Replacement buses will operate overnight, including on the routes between Schiphol and Amsterdam Centraal and Utrecht Centraal. On Saturday, NS tickets will also be valid on metro services until early morning.
NS has advised travelers to check the travel planner before departure and allow extra time for their journey. Disruptions are expected throughout the weekend due to the scale of the work being carried out near the capital.
Track manager ProRail will carry out extensive cable maintenance, cutting and transferring hundreds of cables used for train safety and signaling. At Amsterdam Centraal, work is taking place on platform five, where part of the platform is closed and only the standard stair access is available, while elevators remain operational. Tracks 1 through 7 will be closed during daytime hours.
Trains that normally stop at Amsterdam Centraal will instead start or end at Amsterdam Sloterdijk or Amsterdam Muiderpoort. No trains will run on the line between Amsterdam Sloterdijk, Amsterdam Centraal, and Amsterdam Muiderpoort. The work is part of the “Bouwen op een eiland” (Building on an Island) project, which aims to prepare the station for 275,000 daily passengers by 2030 through wider platforms and expanded tunnels.
