Serious violations with E-Scooter speeds and the police apprehend offenders
A large-scale inspection campaign targeting bicycle and electric scooter riders in the Austrian capital Wien resulted in the temporary arrest of two women holding German nationality, according to the state police directorate announced on Saturday.
The campaign started on Wednesday evening at seven o'clock and lasted for seven hours, carried out by the unified bicycle unit of the traffic department in the state of Wien in cooperation with several security leaders in the city. During this period, 66 instant fines were issued, and 56 violations were recorded based on administrative laws, in addition to eight violations under the foreigners' law.
During the tests conducted on scooters, significant speed violations were observed ranging from 44 to 66 kilometers per hour, while the legal maximum limit is only 25 kilometers.
In one incident during a search, a 31-year-old woman acted aggressively towards police officers, leading to her temporary arrest. In turn, her 29-year-old companion tried to prevent this, attacking two officers and injuring them, which also led to her arrest.
