More EU citizens are considering leaving Germany due to rising living costs and discrimination.

Germany is becoming less attractive for many EU citizens, as rising living costs and social challenges are prompting growing numbers to consider leaving the country, according to a new study.

TVP World reported that, for the first time in 15 years, more EU citizens are leaving Germany than moving there. The findings come from a study commissioned by Germany’s federal commissioner for migration, refugees and integration, ناتالي باوليك.

The report shows that 35% of surveyed EU citizens are thinking about departing Germany, while 13% have already taken concrete steps toward relocation. Housing costs were identified as the biggest concern, with 42% of respondents citing expensive rent as a main reason for wanting to leave.

Overall living expenses were also a major factor, mentioned by 36% of participants. In addition, nearly 39% said they do not feel fully integrated into German society, pointing to a growing sense of social exclusion.

Between 15% and 28% of respondents reported experiencing discrimination. Other difficulties included language barriers and problems getting professional qualifications recognized, further weakening Germany’s appeal for EU migrants seeking long-term stability.
