Leader of an extremist group imprisoned after threatening singer Doowee Pop and his family

Amsterdam police arrested a 38-year-old man from the Dutch capital in connection with death threats directed at singer Doowy Bob and his family. Doowy Bob stated on Tuesday that he temporarily left the Netherlands after receiving death threats, following his withdrawal from a performance that was scheduled to take place at a football tournament for Jewish children. He explained that his withdrawal was due to what he described as the dissemination of "Zionist propaganda" at the event, violating the prior agreement between his team and the organizers.

This decision has sparked sharp criticism, including what was published by VVD party leader Dilan Yeşilgöz on social media, where she said: "Children are deprived of a show just because they are Jewish. (...) This reflects the extent to which hatred towards Jews has been normalized. Open hatred, in broad daylight."

Dovey Bob pointed out that such posts have led to him receiving death threats, and the police have been informed of some of them. According to the AD newspaper, the arrested person is known as "Bob T", who is the leader of a conservative group called the "Amsterdam Defence Force (ADF)" which claimed responsibility for those threats. This group, which was established before the Corona crisis, claims to seek to protect "Amsterdam's culture" from foreigners and migrants, using the slogan "Amsterdam for Amsterdammers."

The group has connections with graffiti gangs and extremist Ajax fans, chanting slogans like "Fuck the police," supports the return of the controversial figure "Zwart Piet," and backs Israel's bombing of Gaza.

The newspaper reported that Bob T sent a message via Instagram to Duwi Bob stating: "We will close your city," accompanied by a picture of the town of Abkaud where the artist lives with his family. He also referred to their premature baby in an offensive manner. The police have not yet confirmed the identity of the suspect.
