Professional thieves blow up an ATM and escape with the money
Residents of the Maxglan district in the Austrian city of Salzburg woke up to the sound of a loud explosion in the early hours of Friday morning, after unknown individuals detonated an ATM inside a bank branch and stole several cash boxes, then fled the scene.
The incident occurred around two-thirty in the morning, when the perpetrators stormed the bank's lobby and detonated the ATM in a calculated and professional manner. The police indicate that this crime was not random or the act of amateurs, but requires experience and skill, and they confirm that the suspects are professionals.
The police are conducting intensive investigations to determine whether this method of theft has similar precedents in Europe, where this attack is being compared to similar crimes in several countries, and video footage is being analyzed while witness testimonies are being heard.
So far, extensive search operations have not yielded tangible results. Authorities rule out that the thieves have escaped to Germany due to strict border controls.
For its part, the bank management announced that the branch will reopen on Monday, confirming that a new ATM will be available at that time. It also clarified that the most important thing is that no passersby or residents of the neighborhood were harmed due to the explosion.
