Mother Kills Son and Takes Her Own Life in Kitzbühel
After a tragic killing in Kitzbühel, the town has cancelled all Fasching (carnival) events. A 48-year-old woman killed her five-year-old son and then took her own life, prompting the municipality to suspend all celebrations.
In an official statement, Bürgermeister (mayor) كلاوس وينكلر said that Kitzbühel would withdraw from all carnival activities out of respect for the victims. He explained that in these difficult days, the town wants to stand together in mourning and expressed condolences to relatives, friends, and acquaintances of the deceased.
The victims, 48-year-old داغمار S. and her son سيباستيان, were found dead in an apartment in the Rennfeld area near Kitzbühel railway station on Tuesday at around 1:30 p.m. According to police, the mother is believed to have killed the child and then committed suicide by hanging. The bodies were discovered by someone from the woman’s social circle, who alerted the authorities.
The Landeskriminalamt Tirol has taken over the investigation. An autopsy carried out at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Innsbruck found no visible signs of violence on the child, making the cause of death unclear. Further histological and toxicological tests are now being conducted, and investigators are examining the possibility that the boy may have been poisoned. No signs of foul play were found on the mother, and her death is being treated as suicide.
The mother and child lived a very withdrawn life on the first floor of the building. Former colleagues said the woman had little contact with others in recent years but was known to care deeply for her son. According to Katja Tersch, head of the Landeskriminalamt Tirol, the crime scene investigation is ongoing, and witnesses are being questioned to better understand the motive and circumstances. Authorities believe the crime took place on Monday.
