Austrian minors and Serbians behind two robbery incidents and an attempted break-in in Vienna

Vienna witnessed two separate incidents within less than 24 hours, involving minors of Austrian and Serbian nationalities, according to the Kronen Zeitung.

In the first incident, a 13-year-old boy was violently attacked on Sunday evening in the area of Jedlerseer Straße / Sinawastingasse in the Wien-Floridsdorf district. Reports indicate that a group of boys approached him while he was heading to a park to meet his friends, before pushing him to the ground, beating him, and stealing his phone, shoes, belt, and hat. The injured boy managed to escape despite his injuries and was taken to the hospital by ambulance teams.

During a search operation in one of the parks, several suspects attempted to flee, but the police managed to apprehend four of them: a 10-year-old child, two 12-year-olds, and a 15-year-old boy, all of whom hold Austrian nationality. The three younger ones are not criminally responsible due to their ages and were handed over to their guardians after being questioned, while the 15-year-old boy was detained and placed in temporary custody. Two other suspects are still at large, and the Landeskriminalamt Wien is investigating the case.

The second incident occurred on the night of Sunday to Monday in the Wien-Brigittenau district, where a witness reported three teenagers attempting to break the door of a shop using a metal rod. Thanks to accurate descriptions and the direction of their escape, the police were able to apprehend the suspects, which included a 13-year-old boy with Austrian nationality and two 14-year-olds, one Austrian and the other Serbian.

The three admitted at the scene of the incident to attempting to break in. The two boys aged 14 were detained as they are criminally responsible, while the 13-year-old boy was handed over to his guardians. The Zentrum Ost branch of the Landeskriminalamt Wien is handling the investigations.
