Wanted man: The police are looking for this man after he withdrew money using a forged passport.
Police in Styria have launched a public manhunt after a suspect allegedly withdrew several thousand euros using a fake passport at a bank branch in Graz on February 5, 2026.
According to the LPD Steiermark (Landespolizeidirektion Steiermark – Styrian State Police Directorate), the incident occurred in the Waltendorf district of Graz. Investigators say the unidentified suspect managed to withdraw a large amount of money by presenting forged identification documents.
About an hour later, the same individual reportedly attempted another withdrawal at a different bank branch in the Straßgang district of Graz. However, the second attempt failed before any money was taken.
The suspect was captured on surveillance cameras during the incidents. Despite ongoing investigations, police have so far been unable to identify the man involved in the fraud.
Following the lack of progress in the investigation, the Staatsanwaltschaft Graz (Graz Public Prosecutor’s Office) has ordered the release of two photographs of the suspect to the public. Authorities emphasized that the presumption of innocence applies.
Police are now asking anyone who may recognize the individual to come forward with information. Tips regarding the suspect’s identity can be reported to the Polizeiinspektion Kärntnerstraße (Kärntnerstraße Police Station) by phone at 059/133/6586.
