Austrian celebrations ignite anger in Lignano
The Italian city of Lignano once again witnessed during the Pentecost holiday "Pfingsten" the influx of thousands of visitors from Austria to participate in the "Tutto gas" festival, which has become known for its lively nights and atmosphere filled with alcohol and parties.
Local residents expressed their anger at the uncivilized behavior of some Austrian visitors, with one resident describing what is happening as an "annual invasion of barbarians," while another pointed out that "foreigners do not commit such acts in their countries for fear of fines." The images circulated in the media captured streets filled with garbage and signs of neglect.
Despite the noisy atmosphere, the police confirmed that the weekend has so far passed relatively quietly, except for a case of theft and several minor brawls. Local police forces received support from Austrian units.
To prevent a repeat of the chaos that occurred in previous years, strict rules have been imposed this year. It is prohibited to be on the beach after 8 PM, and shop and café owners are required to close by 1 or 2 AM at the latest. Alcohol sales are only allowed inside shops, with a ban on serving it in containers or bottles.
In addition, the Italian army participated in securing the atmosphere on Saturday, not only because of the youth parties but also due to the large concert of the Italian star "Cesare Cremonini," which attracted around 30,000 spectators to the football stadium.
