Notice for the unemployed: When will the AMS funds reach your account in October?
The Public Employment Service (AMS) will soon start transferring unemployment benefits for the month of October, which will provide financial relief to hundreds of thousands of Austrians. These monthly payments are made to both the unemployed and participants in AMS training programs.
Since AMS payments are issued retroactively, the upcoming transfer covers benefits for the month of September. Most beneficiaries, exceeding 375,000 people, are expected to receive the amount in their bank accounts on Monday, October 6, while the amount will arrive by mail on Wednesday, October 8.
AMS has announced the full schedule for the upcoming payments. October payments will be transferred to accounts on November 5 (or by mail on November 7), November payments on December 4 (or by mail on December 9), and December payments on January 7, 2026 (or by mail on January 9, 2026).
But a major change will begin in January 2026, as AMS announced that most unemployed people will no longer be allowed to earn additional income from simple part-time jobs while receiving unemployment benefits, with only a few exceptions. Those affected by this rule will have to end their part-time work before the change takes effect.
For many Austrians struggling to cover living expenses, these payments are a vital source of survival. As winter approaches and prices continue to rise, the timely arrival of AMS funds will provide thousands of families in the country with a moment of temporary relief amid economic pressures.
