More than 100,000 customers are suing Vodafone!
The German Consumer Protection Association Verbraucherzentrale Bundesverband (vzbv) announced that more than 100,000 customers have joined a class action lawsuit against Vodafone due to its unilateral increase in cable subscription prices in 2023.
This step came after the company implemented a monthly increase of five euros without the customers' consent. Ramona Bop, a member of the vzbv board, stated that this increase may not prompt individuals to take action separately, but it remains illegal and the amounts should be refunded if the lawsuit is successful.
The number of those affected by this increase is estimated to be around ten million people, and they can still register for free in the lawsuit register at the German Ministry of Justice.
Vodafone has not issued any comment on the recent developments. The company had previously justified the increases by the impact of inflation, but according to vzbv, there is no legal basis for this step.
The oral session is scheduled to be held before the Higher Regional Court in Hamm on December 3rd.
