A heatwave is hitting Austria and will peak on Saturday!

Austria is experiencing its first heatwave of the year, with temperatures rising to exceptional levels, reaching 35 degrees Celsius in some areas. Sunny weather dominates most parts of the country, especially in the west, where temperatures have exceeded 30 degrees.

Today is Friday, and large areas of the country enjoy bright sunshine for up to 16 hours a day, with a clear sky occasionally interspersed with thin clouds that do not significantly affect the weather. In the mountainous regions, some cumulus clouds appear in the afternoon, but they are often not impactful, with a chance of limited rain showers near the Swiss border. Winds are blowing from the east and are of moderate strength. Temperatures range from 24 degrees in the Waldviertel region in Lower Austria to 34 degrees in the Inntal valley in Tyrol. At an altitude of 2000 meters, temperatures range from 14 degrees in the east to 21 degrees in the west.

Saturday will be the hottest day since the beginning of the year, with temperatures ranging between 26 and 34 degrees in most areas, and reaching up to 35 degrees in Inntal and Walgau in Vorarlberg. The weather will be sunny throughout the day, and by the afternoon, dense clouds will appear in Tirol and Vorarlberg, where thunderstorms are expected, which may be strong locally. In the rest of the areas, the weather remains dry. The heat continues even in the mountains, with temperatures between 14 and 21 degrees. Winds will be light to moderate, mostly blowing from the northeast to the southeast.

Sunday starts with warm summer weather, and temperatures rise to between 25 and 33 degrees, with the high heat moving eastward. In the elevations, temperatures range between 15 and 20 degrees. In Vorarlberg, clouds begin to appear at noon, later developing in Tirol into thunderstorms, which may be severe. By evening, these storms extend to Oberkärnten (Upper Carinthia) and Oberösterreich (Upper Austria), and may reach eastern Austria during the night, with warnings of possible heavy rain.

On Monday, the weather will be changeable, with heavy rain and scattered storms. Throughout the day, the situation will gradually improve, especially in the west, where sunny periods will appear. The temperature will drop significantly, ranging between 18 and 28 degrees. The winds will strengthen and come from the northwest.

On Tuesday, the sun will reappear more prominently, with a chance of light showers remaining. The temperature will remain moderate between 20 and 27 degrees, and the atmosphere in the east will continue to be windy, while the weather will be calm in the rest of the regions.
