A 20-year-old young man was killed after a brawl in central Berlin.
A violent confrontation broke out between two groups at the Humboldt Forum in Berlin-Mitte on Friday evening, ending in tragedy. A 20-year-old Syrian man was stabbed multiple times and later died in the hospital despite emergency resuscitation attempts. Police confirmed that he sustained serious injuries from a sharp or pointed object during the attack.
The young man was transferred to the intensive care unit in the hospital, where doctors tried to save his life, but his injuries were fatal, and he passed away shortly after. The public prosecutor opened an investigation into the involuntary manslaughter while authorities continue to search for those responsible for the incident.
According to reports, the victim was walking with two other people when they were surrounded by about 15 attackers. Police sources told the Bild newspaper that the incident appears to have been a confrontation between a group of Afghans and a group of Syrians. The victim's companions, aged 22 and 23, sustained minor injuries.
This bloody confrontation was not the first violent incident at the Humboldt Forum. Just a few weeks ago, a knife fight between two groups resulted in six men being injured. Among them was a 24-year-old man who sustained serious back injuries and underwent emergency surgery, while the others were treated for stab wounds and cuts to their hands, legs, pelvis, and other parts of their bodies.
These repeated waves of violence at the site have raised public concern and questions about security in central Berlin. The police have not yet confirmed the motive behind the latest attack, but they continue to investigate potential links between the incidents.
