Germany faces a massive cyber attack: over 2.5 billion attacks annually on Bundesbank.

Germany is facing a massive cyber threat, with the Bundesbank alone experiencing more than 5,000 attacks per minute, amounting to over 2.5 billion attacks annually. Officials describe this as an endless race against cybercriminals targeting critical systems.

The President of the Bundesbank, Joachim Nagel, stated that the bank has strengthened its defenses through rigorous background checks of employees, secure information technology systems, and detailed business continuity plans to protect the bank from cyber attacks.

Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrinth confirmed that Germany will take a firm stance against cybercrime, including actions abroad. He emphasized that the attackers' infrastructure will be disabled and destroyed to prevent further damage.

To enhance coordination, Germany plans to establish a defense center against hybrid threats later this year, prepared by the domestic intelligence agency. Countermeasures will be implemented in cooperation between intelligence agencies and the Federal Criminal Police Office, with a lowered threshold for taking action.

Dobrindt warned that German institutions, infrastructure, and companies are constantly exposed to cyber attacks. He emphasized that the country cannot afford ongoing attacks and is prepared to defend itself through decisive and coordinated measures.
