Power bank suddenly explodes in handbag: woman bursts into flames
A 27-year-old Kazakh influencer suffered severe burns after a power bank suddenly exploded inside her handbag and set her on fire.
The incident happened shortly after she left a gym. Security camera footage shows smoke rising from her bag before the device suddenly ignited, triggering a fireball that engulfed her belongings within seconds.
The woman sustained serious injuries, including burns to her head, face, and the right side of her body. Her hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes were also badly damaged in the fire.
Staff at the gym quickly rushed to her aid and managed to extinguish the flames before they could spread further. She was then given emergency medical treatment and transferred to a specialist burn treatment center.
The influencer later shared her experience on social media, describing the shocking moment and warning her followers about the dangers of lithium-ion batteries commonly used in power banks.
Experts note that such explosions are rare but can occur due to manufacturing defects, physical damage, or exposure to high temperatures. They also warn that heat can build up rapidly in enclosed spaces like handbags, increasing the risk of fire incidents.
