A man (33 years old) was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for electronically assaulting nine minors.
A 33-year-old man from Ridderkerk (a municipality in South Holland) has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for sexually exploiting nine underage girls online. While the initial investigation targeted seventeen girls, the court found sufficient evidence to convict him in the cases of nine victims.
The man used multiple fake identities across various social media platforms to initiate contact and gain the trust of his young victims. Once he gained their trust, he increased the frequency of the abuse and pressured the girls to send nude photos and videos. This tactic was often part of a larger scheme of sexual extortion (sextortion), a form of blackmail where sexual images are obtained and then used to coerce victims into providing more explicit material.
His methods included severe coercion, including threats to expose nude photos of the victims' family members if they did not comply with his demands. Disturbingly, the court found that in many cases, he was paying for these photos, often small amounts around €10. This predatory behavior allowed him to exploit young and vulnerable girls for over a year.
Moreover, the court proved that the man from Riederkirk had sexual relations with a minor girl. In a serious and separate incident, he paid another girl, aged sixteen, €400 for sexual acts, and even covered the cost of her train ticket to meet him. The court emphasized that the defendant was driven solely by his "desires and sexual needs" and did not consider the harm he caused to his victims in any way.
The investigation began in June 2023 after the mother of an eleven-year-old victim reported to the police. When confronted with the evidence, the man denied many of the charges but admitted to approaching girls through platforms like Snapchat. He confessed that he fell into a pattern of arranging nude photos, saying, "I fell into a routine of arranging nude photos. It boosted my self-confidence," which illustrates the selfish motives behind his destructive actions that "severely violated the natural sexual development of young victims."
