Stabbing, threats with weapons, and throwing from windows are ongoing violent incidents in Vienna.
The Favoriten district in the Austrian capital Vienna witnessed two bloody clashes between groups of men on Wednesday, resulting in several people being injured with varying degrees of severity.
In the afternoon hours, a violent brawl broke out in the Keplerplatz area, where police found a 38-year-old man with a stab wound to his thigh. The victim confirmed that an acquaintance attacked him with a knife of the "Stanleymesser" type. He received first aid from the Vienna emergency service and was taken to the hospital. Thanks to eyewitnesses, the police were able to identify the 19-year-old attacker and arrest him nearby. He was charged with intentionally causing serious bodily injury and was remanded in custody based on the instructions of the public prosecutor's office in Wien.
In another incident on the same evening, police were called to Senefeldergasse after reports of a new bloody brawl. According to witnesses, two young men aged 19 and 26 were violently attacked by a group of young men. One of the attackers stabbed the older victim in the hand and arm with a knife, while the younger man was forcefully pushed against a shop front, causing the glass to shatter and resulting in lacerations to his hand. Both victims were taken to the hospital for treatment, while the police have not yet been able to apprehend the perpetrators, and investigations are still ongoing.
In a separate development that same night, an armed robbery occurred on Donauinsel Island, where two masked men approached two passersby who were sitting on a bench in the park, and one of them brandished a firearm and demanded that the victims hand over their money. After the robbery, the assailants fled, despite urgent pursuit operations that have not yielded results so far. The criminal investigation team in Vienna is handling the case.
The Frohnleiten area of the Graz-Umgebung district witnessed another violent incident on Wednesday evening, where a 51-year-old man attacked his cousin with a beer bottle during a fight inside a house.
