Another murder crime against a woman: A Turkish man stabs his wife to death with a kitchen knife
A woman was killed in a suspected femicide in Innsbruck, Austria, after her husband stabbed her with a kitchen knife before committing suicide. The tragic incident left two young children orphaned.
According to police reports, the crime occurred on Sunday morning in the Olympic Village area of Innsbruck. Authorities discovered the bodies of a 37-year-old Austrian woman and her 31-year-old Turkish husband in the stairwell of a residential building.
Investigators believe that the man attacked his wife with a kitchen knife and then committed suicide shortly after. Evidence at the scene suggests that the woman may have tried to escape before being fatally stabbed.
The case has attracted special attention because the victim had reported her husband to the police just one day prior. She had accused him of threatening her and repeatedly assaulting her. Following the report, authorities issued a restraining order against the man.
Despite the protection order, the suspect allegedly returned to the residence and forced entry. The police discovered the bodies while conducting a routine check related to the protection order.
Authorities believe that extreme jealousy and controlling behavior may be the motive behind the attack. The two children, aged between six and eight years, are now left without parents as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
