Three people were injured after a chase at the border ended with a car overturning on the A2 highway in Limburg.

Three people were injured on Saturday after a cross-border traffic stop escalated into a high-speed pursuit and rollover crash on the A2 in Limburg. The incident began near the Belgian border and ended when the fleeing vehicle flipped onto its roof beside the motorway.

The chase started in the afternoon at the border crossing in Eijsden, where the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee attempted to stop a passenger car with Belgian license plates for inspection. The driver ignored the stop signal and sped away, triggering a pursuit.

During the chase, the suspect vehicle allegedly attempted to ram a Marechaussee patrol car but failed, according to reports by De Telegraaf and De Limburger. Authorities confirmed that the situation quickly became dangerous as speeds increased.

Near Sint Joost, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the A2, rolled over, and came to rest upside down in the grass along the roadside.

All three occupants of the vehicle were injured in the crash and transported to hospital for treatment. Authorities have not yet released further details about their condition or possible charges.
