Austrian politician calls for the deportation of the family receiving 9000 euros per month
A Syrian family residing in Vienna has sparked widespread controversy across Austria after it was revealed that they receive nearly 9,000 euros monthly in social assistance. The family consists of parents and eleven children living in an apartment of less than 100 square meters.
The politician from the FPÖ party, Leo Lugner, also known as the son-in-law of Richard Lugner, posted a video on TikTok in which he called for the deportation of a family, describing it as a "case for deportation by private jet." He sarcastically said, "While you work hard, Ali drives around in a BMW in the Favoriten district," pointing out that it is the taxpayer who funds the car and its expenses.
According to the magazine "Profil", the amount received by the family is distributed as follows: about 3,000 euros in child benefits, which are available to all families with children in Austria. An additional 1,700 euros is provided as social assistance for parents, and 326 euros for each child (totaling approximately 3,600 euros), with a deduction of 900 euros from the unemployment benefit received by the father, who previously worked in Austria after his asylum. The city of Vienna also pays 1,600 euros as rental assistance due to high housing costs.
Lugner called for direct action against the family, stating: "We in the FPÖ party do not provide the minimum support for foreigners, but only a one-way ticket to their homeland."
The FPÖ exploits cases like this, where foreign families receive large amounts of aid due to the high number of children, to promote its rhetoric calling for stricter asylum policies.
