Hochst provokes Muslims and AfD disowns.
A post on platform X by parliament member Nicole Höchst from the AfD party caused a huge uproar after it included a direct insult to Muslims in Germany. The post was titled "To all Muslims in Germany" and contained a composite image showing men wearing traditional Arab clothing next to a manure cart, with a phrase saying: "Whatever you eat... it is fertilized with pig feces," in a sarcastic reference to the prohibition of pork in Islam. The official AfD party logo also appeared in the image.
The post published on June 3 was quickly deleted after pressure from the party leadership, according to reports from the newspapers "Bild" and "T-Online". Hochst has not issued any statement regarding what was published, even though her account is followed by more than 25,000 people, and the post was shared several times before it was deleted.
A spokesperson for the parliamentary group of the AfD party confirmed that "the post is completely unacceptable and has been removed at the request of the heads of the parliamentary group."
Nicole Höchst is no stranger to controversial statements, as she previously submitted an inquiry to the German parliament in 2018 with colleagues from her party, questioning the relationship between severe disabilities and cousin marriages among members of Muslim communities, including marriages between cousins, and requested information about their immigrant backgrounds.
Hoshest, who is a teacher and a mother of four children, currently holds membership in several parliamentary committees, specializing in the field of education.
