Cyberattack on LUP Clinics in the Ludwigslust-Parchim District

In the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, there are currently major technical problems in the hospitals. The so-called LUP clinics have become the target of a cyberattack. This was officially announced by the district administration. The hospital locations in Parchim and Hagenow are primarily affected.

In a cyberattack, criminals attempt to infiltrate an organization's computer systems via the internet. As a result, many digital programs in the affected clinics are no longer functioning as usual. IT specialists are currently working under high pressure to inspect the systems and restore network security.

However, there is an important message for patients: medical care continues to be guaranteed. Emergencies are being admitted and treated. Nevertheless, delays may occur in daily hospital operations. Since the computers are not working properly, staff must record much of the information by hand or pass it on by telephone.

The police and cybercrime experts have already begun their investigations. So far, it remains unclear who is responsible for the attack and whether sensitive data has been stolen. Unfortunately, such attacks on public institutions and hospitals have been increasing in Germany for some time.

It is not yet known when the IT systems of the LUP clinics will be able to operate completely normally again. The district asks citizens for their understanding regarding the current situation. As soon as there are new findings, the hospital management intends to inform the public immediately.
