The new deposit system confuses shoppers at the supermarket.
The implementation of the deposit system on plastic bottles and cans since the beginning of the year has confused many customers, prompting some stores to take new measures. In one "SPAR" store, customers are asked to place all drinks on the conveyor belt at checkout, as each product must be checked individually due to the presence of drinks with deposits and others without.
The new system includes all plastic bottles and cans with a capacity of 0.1 to 3 liters, with a deposit of 25 cents refunded upon return, provided the bottle is intact and carries the system's specific code. Additionally, the deposit for beer bottles has been increased from 9 to 20 cents, raising the cost of a crate to 7 euros instead of the previous 4.80 euros.
