Happy Ramadan, O monkeys: A Turkish family finds a pig's head in front of their house
A Turkish family in Hall, Tyrol, was targeted in a disturbing racist attack when unknown perpetrators left a pig’s head and an offensive message outside their apartment door during Ramadan.
The incident reportedly took place during the night of March 12. According to local reports, the attackers placed a cooked pig’s head in front of the family’s home along with a note that read, “Happy Ramadan, you monkeys,” causing shock and outrage in the community.
The family has been left deeply shaken, with particular concern for their children, who are now living in fear. A representative from the Federation of Democratic Workers in Austria (ADIF) said the family worries about further attacks and called for urgent action against such hate crimes.
The case has triggered strong political reactions. Green Party politician Barbara Schramm-Skoficz condemned the act and emphasized the need to address rising hostility toward foreigners. Plans are also underway to organize a public rally against racism in Hall.
Authorities have confirmed that the incident has been reported and investigations are ongoing. Meanwhile, organizations have warned of a growing number of anti-Muslim attacks, noting that many cases remain unreported due to fear, making incidents like this a serious concern for social harmony.
