The Netherlands is preparing for the start of a stormy week with wind gusts reaching 90 km/h.

The Netherlands is preparing for a week filled with unstable weather, with heavy rain expected, strong winds, and intermittent periods of sunshine in large parts of the country, according to a report from weeronline.

On Sunday, morning showers in the north will gradually fade away, making way for the sun to appear. In other areas, clouds coming from the southwest will increase by midday. Temperatures will range between 19 and 20 degrees Celsius, with moderate southwesterly winds strengthening to become strong near the coast.

As night falls, rain will extend from the southwest accompanied by stronger winds. Coastal areas and the Faden Islands will face stormy conditions, with winds reaching 7 or 8 on the Beaufort scale, and gusts that may reach 85 km/h. The inland areas will also experience strong gusts, with the possibility of heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms. Temperatures will drop at night to between 14 and 16 degrees.

On Monday, the weather will remain stormy, especially along the coast, where gusts of southwesterly winds may reach 90 km/h. Rain showers will continue, some heavy and accompanied by brief thunderstorms. Temperatures will be around 20 degrees Celsius, slightly higher in the south and cooler near the coast.

As for Tuesday, Prinsjesdag—the official opening of the Dutch parliamentary year—will see calmer weather, but it will still be relatively stormy. The eastern winds will start strong before gradually easing, with scattered showers and periods of sunshine. Temperatures in The Hague are expected to reach 18 degrees, while most parts of the country will record between 17 and 18 degrees.

Rain will continue on Wednesday with moderate to strong southwesterly winds, especially near the coast. Starting Thursday, weather conditions are expected to gradually improve, with less rain, more sunshine, and temperatures rising to between 20 and 22 degrees, slightly above the seasonal average of 17–19 degrees.
