Salaries of workers in metals and technology in the Netherlands will increase by 2.8% starting from January.

Pensions for workers in the metals and technology sectors in the Netherlands will increase by 2.8% starting January 1, 2026, benefiting around 170,000 retirees.

This increase marks the fifth consecutive year of pension growth, thanks to the strong financial position of the fund. Alaa Laghresh, the CEO, said: "At the same time, I recognize that inflation has been high in recent years, making daily expenses, such as groceries, more costly for many."

This increase aims to compensate for inflation between July 2024 and July 2025.

The coverage ratio of the fund, or dekkingsgraad, reached 125.2% at the end of October, meaning the fund has €125.20 for every €100 that needs to be paid in current and future pensions. Eric Eugen, a council member, said last month that pensions could be increased if the ratio remains at this level.

About 450,000 current and former workers building their pensions will see this increase in their statements in February, while the contribution rate will remain unchanged.
