The Netherlands supports Ukraine with 300 million euros!
The Netherlands announced a financial support of 300 million euros to Ukraine during the years 2025 and 2026 with the aim of contributing to the reconstruction of the country. This announcement was made by interim Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Foreign Minister Kees van der Staaij during the annual reconstruction conference held in Rome. Van der Staaij stated that "Russia is not only seeking to defeat Ukraine militarily, but has been trying for more than three years to destroy the Ukrainian society and economy," pointing to the importance of supporting the Ukrainian economy to maintain the country's resilience. The amount comes from a fund that the Netherlands allocated worth 500 million euros for non-military aid to Ukraine. 200 million euros from this fund have already been disbursed.
This year, 52 million euros of this support will be allocated for repairing energy infrastructure and providing drinking water. The Netherlands will also grant 10 million euros this year and next year to support Ukrainian electronic capabilities in the face of Russian attacks. The conference, which is being held in Rome for the fourth time, aims to encourage cooperation between the public and private sectors in areas such as defense, mining, and energy. It also seeks to connect international investors with their Ukrainian counterparts to enhance reconstruction and modernization efforts in preparation for a potential Ukrainian accession to the European Union.
The conference was opened by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, where international financial commitments exceeding 10 billion euros were announced. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also participated in the conference, along with the economy and foreign ministers from other European countries.
French President Emmanuel Macron remained in Britain on an official visit, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was also there. However, both participated via video in the "Willing Coalition" conference, which is a coalition seeking to draft a peace plan for Ukraine.
