Today's News: Adrián Ravier is the new presidential spokesperson
The national government announced changes to its communication structure with the appointment of a new presidential spokesperson who will take office this week. In the area of security, a serious violent incident shook downtown Tucumán, while in the commercial sector, significant expansion plans for an international chain were announced.
Adrián Ravier was chosen by President Javier Milei to be the new presidential spokesperson, replacing Manuel Adorni in that role. Ravier is an Austrian school economist and professor who was serving as a national deputy for the province of La Pampa. Due to this change, his seat in the Chamber of Deputies will be filled by Martín Matzkin, who is close to the Ministry of Security. For his part, Adorni will continue in his position as Chief of Staff, although he will lose this central task of official communication.
In San Miguel de Tucumán, a retired military officer was involved in a violent episode in a square in the courthouse area. The man attacked his ex-wife, from whom he was separating, and shot at a "trapito" (a person who asks for money to watch cars on the street). The attacker, who according to witnesses was out of control, died following the incident, which caused panic among passersby in the area.
Amid the cabinet changes, it was revealed that Manuel Adorni acquired a collectible "The Addams Family" pinball machine for his personal use. The purchase, made for his home in a private neighborhood, cost $8,000 and comes at a time of restructuring of his government duties.
In the economic sector, the global açaí brand Oakberry is planning a strong expansion in Argentina. The company, which sells products based on this Amazonian fruit, projects opening up to 100 branches across the country. It currently has five operational stores and several more openings in the process of construction and signing.
